I had trial read several books on anger before choosing this one. Right off the bat, it felt like he knew exactly how I was feeling, and how I was reacting (badly) to many giving situations. Written intelligently but plainly spoken, he has a nice combination of no nonsense ( including swearing) combined with light hearted humor. If you're reading this review ( about men's anger and how to deal with it) be honest with yourself, and realize that a book you can read in private is a great stepping stone towards ending your anger and frustration. Absolutely a great help to me!

Not every thing will apply to every man but there are some very good generalizations if you are honest with yourself. You also need to be honest with yourself as to if buying a book is going to help you. I am reading this book and thinking to myself :This is going to take years!" That from somebody that actively works at self-improvement (I've quit smoking, started a cardio exercise program, have changed my eating habits and lost weight going from 265 pounds to 220). If you really want to get control of your anger issues consider talking to someone in person. But be careful; the people I spoke to about joining a group impressed me as being snake-oil salesmen that hold these groups for people that have to go because it is court ordered and not because they actually want to change.

This reads like a fortune tellers act. Broad, scatters hot descriptions of behaviours that are all lumped under the banner of anger. Psychology suffers from a presumption of guilt whereby if you engage with the profession there is no way you can fail to be labelled with some malady. If you engage with the narrative of this author you are angry and need help. I recommend avoiding this nonsense and picking up a book that discusses cortisol and adrenaline antagonists. If you must, a book that also focuses on compassionate behaviour rather that repeated examples of harmful behaviour is likely to be much healthier.To be clear, do not purchase this book.

This book was incredible for me. I was hooked as soon as I read the first page and couldn't put it down. This is the first book I read on anger management and it has helped me tremendously. After reading the first page of this book I knew it was exactly what I needed. After reading the entire thing, I'd felt like someone had been following me around for the past 15-20 years writing a book about anger and using my reactions in life to write it. The suggestions for change in this book are great. It's real and doesn't sugar coat anything. The self awareness this book gave me in my daily life was definitely the kick start I needed to start making more positive and lasting changes for myself to have healthier relationships, friendships, and to be a far better father.

This is a very revealing book and asked the hard questions and makes you face the hard answers. I started reading it again because it was so revealing. Don't read this book unless you are serious about dealing with your anger or frustration issues. I have come to the conclusion that anger has a place in ones life, but only a small place. There are so many other things to be happy about and anger and rage are just destructive. Deal with your issues and if this book starts you in that direction good. It is a hard read because it deals directly with the problem.

I bought this for someone who doesnt think he has a problem and because of his personality I felt the wording "a guide for men" would make him more likely to read it. However, I do think there are better books except they speak to women.I left it at his house and we didnt talk about it but I know he picked it up and read at least some if not all. He noticably changed. Ultimately though we had another pointless argument where he again lost his temper and went too far so I have stayed away from him and dont think I will ever see him again. At least he has the book.

This book is amazing. It really opened my eyes to some habits of mine that need to change. Let's take road rage. Before I even get in the car, I am full of rage. I am all calm and smiley though on the outside. Say goodbye to coworkers or my family, but then minutes later I am just looking for someone on unload on before I get home or get to work. Flipping people off, flashing lights, honking the horn, and yelling like a mad man. The rational side of me knows this is wrong, but he is never the one behind the wheel. I'll be working on the rage reduction through therapy.

I highly recommend this book to everyone. I was shocked to find out how little I knew about myself and how much I have hurt others through my thougtless actions. I came from a family of angry people and everyone used to say (sort of proudly actually), that pride and anger runs in our genes. I knew that was absurd even before I bought the book, but I never knew that I was this wrong about myself and about others till I read this book. Truly a bible worth having by your side. I am still working on my anger issues, but I am now very confident that I have some one to help me out - FINALLY. For anyone who thinks the world stinks, that everyone is acting or putting on an act of love and happiness or that the world is so unfair and unjust or that your wife and kids do not listen to anything you say, or that most people are out to get you, please.. please... read this book. It will really help you.
